How to install a wall-mounted gas boiler

Hello everyone! Today I will tell you how we installed a wall-mounted gas boiler in a private house. I will share all the nuances of installation, piping, requirements, and, of course, useful tips that will help you avoid mistakes.

A little about the initial data

Our choice fell on a Novell double-circuit gas boiler with a capacity of 24 kW with a closed combustion chamber. We bought it in the winter for 31 thousand rubles together with a coaxial chimney kit. Now such a boiler costs about 33 thousand, and this is without a chimney. We installed it in the kitchen of a one-story brick house with good thermal insulation (expanded clay blocks, 5 cm foam, facing brick).

Important requirements

Room height. At least 2.5 meters. Our ceilings are 3 meters - with a margin.

Kitchen volume. A minimum of 20 cubic meters is required for a 24 kW boiler. Our kitchen is 39 cubic meters.

Windows. The glazing area must be at least 1.11 sq. m. Our window is larger — 2.36 sq. m.

Partition materials. Only fireproof. We have brick walls — the requirement is met.

Main installation steps

Project documentation. It is necessary to have a project and technical specifications for connecting the house to the gas network.

Marking. We marked the hole for the chimney, taking into account the dimensions of the boiler and the distance from the walls and floor.

Drilling. We invited specialists for the hole for the chimney (100 mm).

Boiler installation. We secured the bar included in the kit and hung the boiler.

Boiler piping

Cold water. We brought in a 20 mm diameter pipe, installed a ball valve and a mud trap.

Hot water. The scheme is similar: tap, tee, meter.

Heating. Added taps, mud traps, and a mixing unit for underfloor heating. All pipes were carefully secured with plastic clamps.

Important about ventilation

Air flow into the kitchen is provided by a grille at the bottom of the door and a ventilation gap. The exhaust is organized through a window and a ventilation duct that leads outside.
